From Gallery 9 to the artist

Artist submissions are always welcome.

We are an artist-run gallery in a working framing shop, and we would rather show someone new than leave a wall unchanged. Here is exactly how to submit, and exactly what we look at.

Email your submission

The process

Five things to include
in your email.

Send a minimum of three cohesive pieces as high-quality image files to customartframinginc@gmail.com with “submission” in the subject line.

01 · Title

What each piece is called.

02 · Medium

Oil, acrylic, photography, mixed media — medium type is flexible.

03 · Date

When the piece was completed.

04 · Size

Dimensions of the finished work. Size is flexible.

05 · Price

Your suggested retail price. This one matters more than most artists expect.

Ready to hang

Work should be wired and signed before it comes to us.

Being straight with you

What we actually
select on.

Marketability

We are a commercial gallery in a shop, not a museum. Purchasing potential is the primary criterion, and we would rather tell you that up front than pretend otherwise.

Pricing & collector appeal

Pricing is a major factor. Work priced for the room it hangs in sells; work priced for a different market sits. We will talk to you honestly about this.

Coherence over volume

Three pieces that clearly belong together beat ten that do not. Size and medium are flexible — the through-line is what we are looking for.

We reply within one month

You will get an acknowledgement that your submission arrived, and a decision within a month.

No walk-in submissions

Please do not bring work to the counter. Email lets the whole team review it properly.

Submission questions

Before you email.

A minimum of three cohesive pieces, as high-quality image files. Coherence matters more than quantity — we are looking for a body of work rather than a sampler.

No, walk-in submissions are not accepted. Everything comes by email so the whole team can review it together rather than one person deciding at the counter.

We acknowledge receipt when your submission arrives and respond with a decision within one month.

It needs to be wired and signed. If a piece is accepted and needs framing, you are in the right building — the workshop is downstairs.
